You are quite right here Matt, and I’ve also found myself discussing projects with people to discover that their technology actually isn’t that revolutionary and their business idea isn’t that unique – yet they wanted an NDA which had the potential to restrict me in the course of my normal business.

There is a balance to be struck between keeping IP close and taking it to your grave alone. IP that doesn’t grow with a team decays, and there are a million terrific ideas every day.

Venture capital is much more than just the money – it is about the team you get, and there has to be trust…. Warren Buffet only deals with people he likes, trusts and respects – so it seems a good model.

This is fantastic! I’ve been seeking out as much information as possible on VC firms and i’m glad to finally see you guys open in Perth. I’ve been following the Blue Cove ventures blog but because they are over east it’s not feasible for me to attend their events.

I think Perth could have a really great startup scene something a bit like TechStars in Boulder, Colorado. There is a heap of really smart people in Perth and it would be great to see some of them attend your opening event.
